Adjumani-The hospital management is stuck with the body of a South Sudan national after they failed to trace the whereabouts of the relatives for three days.
The deceased, Acasa Dominic, from South Sudan died from the surgical ward where he was brought by the police after he was manhandled by a mob in Elegu on Friday last week, November 10.2017.
The deceased and another suspect still in police custody allegedly killed a Boda Boda cyclist they hired to bring them to Adjumani town early this November 1, 2017.
The district secretary for health Sabuni John issued an ultimatum of one day for the Adjumani DPC Kakaire Adam to remove the body from the hospital mortuary or else the body will be delivered to Adjumani police station tomorrow for safe custody.
Sabuni John attested that the decomposing body poses a serious health risk to the hospital staff and patients.
The Adjumani DPC Kakaire Adams advised the hospital management to liaise with Adjumani town council authority so that the body can be temporarily buried in case the police fail to trace the relatives of the deceased.
This is not the first time the police is experiencing a deadlock over unclaimed dead bodies in the hospital, in 2007, Dr Opar Bernard the then Medical Superintendent said they would request the town council authorities to bury it.
