France on Sunday evening beat Croatia in a thrilling encounter to lift the World Cup.
France won the game with goals from Mandzukic in 18’minutes, an own goal, Griezmann, 38 minutes penalty, Pogba 59’minutes, and Mbappé 65 minutes.
The game emotional game a lot of hard tackles and a penalty was awarded through the newly introduced technology of VAR. This followed a call from French players who demanded for a VAR after there was a handball in the 18 yard box.
Griezmann then converted the penalty in 38 minutes. This restored the lead for France at that time. France had last won the World Cup in 1998 when they hosted it.
Griezmann has scored 10 goals for France in major tournaments – only three players have scored more for Les Bleus (Michel Platini – 14, Just Fontaine – 13, Thierry Henry – 12).
