- Women football started in 1990s but the development of the clubs has been slow especially at the regional levels
- The coaching education and organizing the competitions are now progressing where the regional clubs have been formed
Zombo-Women in Paidha town in Zombo district Paidha have formed a football club that would be used in promoting their skills and talents.
The Women Fc is one of the sport teams owned by Paidha Women Sports Association (PAWSA). According to one of the managers of the Club, Keuber Moses: “The association aims at equipping & transforming the girls and young women the necessary skills both in sports and other life skills for their well-being.”
He said the women have also developed netball and basketball teams that would be used by the women and young girls to transform their lives especially from being idle.
Recently, Federation of Uganda Football Association has been encouraging women to engage in football activities. Right now in both the Big League, Uganda Cup, Azam Uganda Premier League, women officiate the matches.
As a result of the formation of the football, netball and basketball teams, Uganda Women Network has offered entrepreneurship skills to the women.
Airtel Uganda has also been in talent search across the West Nile region by organizing women football tournaments.
