The Bishop elect of Nebbi Catholic diocese, Rt Rev Constantine Rupiny, will be consecrated and installed on February 22, 2025, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral, Nebbi.

The declaration of the consecration date was announced this morning by the Archbishop of Gulu, His Grace, Raphael P’mony Wokorach.


The date of the Consecration and Installation of Rev Fr Dr Constantine Rupiny, Bishop Elect of Nebbi Catholic Diocese, will be on 22nd February 2025. The Thanksgiving Mass will be the following day February 23rd (also the Diocesan day). Any necessary preparation can be started


The newly elected Bishop was appointed by Pope Francis on November 26. The Bishop elect Rev Fr Dr Constantine Rupiny, is serving as the current Rector for Alokolum.

Who is the Bishop elect

He was born on 10 November 1974 in Parombo, in Nebbi Catholic diocese.

He completed his philosophical studies at the Uganda Martyrs’ National Major Seminary in Alokolum, in the Archdiocese of Gulu (1996-1999), and his theological studies at St. Mary’s National Major Seminary in Ggaba, in the Archdiocese of Kampala (2000-2004).

He subsequently obtained a Licentiate in Philosophy at the Pontifical Urbaniana University in Rome (2009-2011) and a Doctorate in Dogmatic Theology at the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw, Poland (2018-2022).

He also served as Parish Vicar of Kango (2004-2005); Parish Priest of Akanyo (2005-2007); Formator and Professor at the Uganda Martyrs’ National Major Seminary in Alokolum (2007-2009, and 2011-2018).
