- Bishop Sanctus Lino Wanok was born on 7th April 1957, at Ukuru Pamach village in Zombo
- He was ordained deacon on 31st August 1986 at Ediofe Parish, and ordained Priestly on 27/09/1986 at Warr Parish by Bishop Fred Drandua
- From 2005 to the time of his election as bishop, he was the Vicar General of Nebbi Catholic Diocese. On 08/02/2011 the His Holiness Pope Benedict XV1 elected him as the third Bishop of Nebbi Catholic Diocese
Lira: The new Bishop of Lira diocese, Rt Rev Sanctus Lino Wanok, has said he is ready to do God’s will following his transfer to Lira.
The Bishop was two months ago transferred from Nebbi Catholic diocese to Lira diocese following retirement of Lira Diocese Bishop Franzeli.
The installation is taking place today (Saturday) at Lira diocese Ordination ground. In his acceptance speech, Bishop Wanok said he had to obey God’s command.
“It was a surprise to me and everybody. I even said, why me and not any other Bishops? I said well, if is you Lord, I accept. I am here to shepherd the flock.”
In the welcome speech by the Emeritus Bishop of Lira diocese, Bishop Guiseppe Franzeli said: “The family of God should remain united. He (Wanok) has come following the mandate of Jesus to spread the good news in the way God wants his church to grow. Be united in this diocese. We welcome you.”
According to Canon Law (Can. 401 §1) every bishop who has attained 75 years of age is required to present his resignation from office to the Supreme Pontiff.
Hundreds of Christians from Nebbi Catholic diocese especially, mobilize resources for massive send off of the Bishop. Most of the Christians from Nebbi, Arua, Pakwach and Zombo traveled on Friday where the Bishop was welcomed in Lira in a long procession.
