Nebbi- The outgoing Nebbi Catholic diocese Bishop Sanctus Lino Wanok has urged youths to desist from sexual promiscuity if they are to live by the bible teaching.
The bishop made the remarks in his homily at opening of the youth celebration on Wednesday, to youths of 19 dioceses across the country at the ongoing national youth Conference that is being celebrated in Nebbi catholic diocese and will end this Sunday.
The National Youth Conference of this year is being celebrated under the theme “My family is a domestic church, do not be afraid.”
Bishop urged the youths to stop fornication, but value faith as a way to go in order to inherit the kingdom of God.
“All the worries and challenges can be managed by God if we practice faith in our lives.”
The Nebbi Diocesan Youth Coordinator, Fr Walter Wokorach says the national youth council was initiated by the St. John Paul II in 1993 when he visited Uganda. “We are moving round the 19 parishes in Nebbi Diocese to ensure youths are equipped and guided on how to own their projects and live an inspired life,” Fr Wokorach said.
He adds that the church is working towards skills of youths to embrace income generating activities and also build their capacity to own their project which is sustainable.
One of the youth leaders from Kasese Diocese, Masika Nevaless, said fornication is common among youths due to influence of globilisation which has ruined lives of the youths.
She said the National Youth Conference is an avenue of life changing, because youths get socialized with different cultures across the country and also expose them on how to overcome challenges through the words of God.
