- The Catholic diocese will from December 11 to 16 will host the event
- The participants are to come from Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania and DRCongo
- An organizing committee has already been formed to carry out fund-raising and mobilization of the youths to participate in the event
NEBBI. Nebbi Catholic Diocese is set to host the National Youth Conference that will offer opportunities to explore their potentials in sharing their ideas.
The youths in the diocese have been engaged to be productive activities like in agro-business, football competition, embracing of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) which they can turn into business for self-reliance.
The Diocesan Youth Secretary, Fr Walter Wokorach, said already a committee has been formed to mobilise resources for the conference that will be held from 11th to 16th next month.
“The event shall draw about 7000 youths from all the Dioceses of Uganda and others from other East African Countries as well as the Democratic Republic of Congo.”
Fr Wokorach added that: “Dear sons and daughters of Nebbi Catholic Diocese, it is a humble appeal to all of us to join hands to make this great event successful. It is a great privilege for us to host this event for the first time in our history.”
The event will also offer opportunity for productive youths to market their products like those who are packaging honey. It will also offer business opportunity for the local businesses like the hotel owners who would tap into the financial income for the four days.
The church has always encouraged the youths to engage in productive work like other than being idle and waiting for government jobs.
