- The project also supported improved livelihood agriculture as well as transport in terms of two vehicles and 13 motorcycles
- In the course of the project, there was road improvements linking to markets, schools and hospitals
- The projects were implemented through Agency for Accelerated Rural Development (AFARD)
Nebbi- Nebbi has been awarded for being the best performing district in implementation of Danish Assistance to Refuses Hosting (DAR 3).
While receiving the award, the Chief Administrative Officer, Okaka Geoffrey said that under DAR 3, the district was supported in capacity building of the staff, improving infrastructure that involved opening of roads to provide access to markets.
Nyakuni Leverious, the Acting District Production Coordinator commended the project for supporting the development of Parish Development Plans that enabled communities to articulate their actual problems.
“The interventions targeted the actual community concerns since they were at forefront of identifying the interventions.”
Nyankuni appreciated AFARD which was the implementing partner for the good work on behalf of the District.
Kubi James the Acting District Engineer said there are challenges in maintaining the roads that were opened. Uganda Road Fund guidelines does not allow the district to spend on the roads since they have not been coded in the Ministry.i
