- The profile of late Joseph Alex Apechu, started his career as classroom teacher and later he became a tutor at Ludonga, Unyama and Kinya-Masika in Fortportal
- In 1972-1979, Alex Apechu became the first regional inspector of schools in Gulu and Kitgum in northern Uganda and in 1980-1986, he became the Inspector of schools in Nebbi district
- In 1987-1993, late Apechu became the director of the departed Agency Property Custodian Board and thereafter in 1994-2006 he was appointed as RDC and worked in the districts of Rakai, Palisa, Kabcworwa and Kitgum
- Apechu served Nebbi district as Chairman service Commission where he worked for two terms from 2006-2011 and retired.

Nebbi-The people of Nebbi have learnt of the untimely and sudden demise of Elder and Senior Citizen and also the former Chairperson Nebbi District Service Commission – the Late Joseph Alex Apechu.
He was one of the most recognizable faces of dignity, credibility and commitment to Public Service.
The late Mzee Apechu was a renowned and beloved Educationist, Public Servant, Administrator, Friend, Mentor, Parent, Counselor, Role Model and an inspiration to many. The impact he left on lives explains the commitment to be part of the loving community that not only appreciated his services, but is also committed to giving him a befitting sendoff worth his stature.
We are humbled, honoured and privileged to have had the late Alex Apechu as an Inspector of Schools and mentor with fond memories. He was one of a kind, and always ready to advise; he provided that special stewardship that nobody can forget his services to the Education sector. We celebrate his life and also cherish the special relationship we had with him in and out of school.
We celebrate his life with gratitude and thank God for the wonderful years he spent with us & the mentorship received from him. We will remember the beautiful memories we had with him; such a joy to watch him perform his tasks with such great passion, commitment, enthusiasm and integrity. Testimonies can be got from his staff, colleagues and fellow Elder citizens. If any Public Administrator had won the hearts and minds of the community, the late Alex J. Apechu was the Ultimate Educationist.
To the bereaved family, please have hope and trust in the mighty presence, power, and comfort that the Almighty God gives to his own. Don’t let go off God’s presence in your life. The late left an important mark in the lives of so many people. He was admired and respected by his staff wherever he served, civil servants, colleagues, and friends for his humility, integrity, intelligence and management
skills. We thank the family of the late for sharing such a man with Nebbi, Zombo Districts, West Nile and the country at large.

He got his first degree in Education at Makerere University and went for his Masters in Human Resource Management at Queen land University in Australia.
For a man who set such a high bar in public service, there is need to carry out activities to remember his undisputed contribution in the future. His efforts will never be forgotten. He earned his place in history. The most visible Inspector of Schools that ever held the office.
To all Mourners, The Late Alex Apechu ran the race and won. He did his part and lived a worthy life; What he did not do, you will do better, where he could not go, you will go in his memory; What he started you will finish, go forth and attain greatness with humility and honesty and above all bring honour to his memory.
Alex Apechu is a name that will remain permanently in the hearts and minds of those who knew him and the future generations who will come to learn about him and get inspired by his acts.
May the Almighty and ever Merciful God have mercy on the late Alex J. Apechu and rest his Soul in peace. The memories and legacy will go on forever for his undisputed contribution to our country, families, friends, and to humanity.
God’s providence does not fail and he will hold your right hands and guide you all the way. Apechu will be put to his place of rest at his ancestral home at Mbaro Oryang in Nyaravur sub county tomorrow (Tuesday).
