Success in life does not come on a silver plate but through hard work, resilience and personal ability and in football out of team work.
Not long ago, Onduparaka Football Club was little known in Uganda and in the World. But after producing one of the most prolific strikers in the current times of Ugandan football, the club has become famous.
The success of Onduparaka through the ‘goal machine’ striker as commonly known as Ijagason, has seen Betway Company sponsor the club and market it to the world. Mohamed Shaban (Ijagason) started his career with Vipers but he did not have enough playing time.

After leaving Vipers and joining Onduparaka since the time of the Big League, the striker has been one of the best players to watch and the club heavily relies on him. While fast running striker has defied all odds by scoring against SC Villa, KCCA and Vipers which were all decisive in having them secure maximum points in the Uganda Azam Premier League.
Due to his scoring ability and versatility with the ball and his contributions, Ijagason was named for Uganda’s Best Player’s Award by Airtel Uganda. Serious campaigns were then held by both the fans and ONDUPARAKA FOOTBALL CLUB# for votes.

Indeed this paid Ijagason for his contributions and won the Awards. This is motivational to him and other players in the club to follow the footsteps. He also made achievement when Uganda Coach Micho included him in Uganda Cranes Squad for the African Cup of Nations starting next month in Gabon.
The fans voted for Shaban by typing FUFA space 40 and send to 8888.
Rashid Toha (Per) has also made it to the Uganda Cranes squad. The Club then announced that: “Ladies and gentlemen we want to take this special moment to confirm to you that Mohamed Shaban has finally been awarded as the best FUFA male player of the year beating Denis Onyango, Joseph Ochaya and Sekisambu, we want to thank you who voted for him including the ones who did not due to one reason or the other, without you it was impossible, this is just the beginning provided you stick with us.”
During an earlier interview with West Nile Press online, Ijagason said he has set a target to score 20 goals this season in Uganda Premier league. “I want to score about 20 goals and I thank all the fans for always being outstanding with us. When we play at home, we feel that we have the great backing from fans and our ancestors,” he said.

No wonder, his working ability has also earned him as a Team Captain for Onduparaka. Ijagason now has seven goals as one of the top scorers in the league and is seventh on the table.
And in the continuing Premier League games, Onduparaka faces the Saints today at 4:30 Pm at Bombo. Hundreds of fans from Arua, Pakwach and Paidha have traveled to garner support for the club. West Nile Press Online wishes Onduparaka Football Club and Shaban the best.
