Pope Francis has today appointed a new Apostolic Nuncio to Uganda, Archbishop Luigi Bianco.
Archbishop Bianco was until the appointment as Nuncio to Uganda, was the Apostolic Nuncio to Ethiopia and Djibouti. According to Charge d’ Affaires, Fr Alfred D’Souza, in a press release today, Bianco was also the Apostolic Delegate to Somalia.
“The new Apostolic Nuncio to Uganda has a doctorate in Canon Law. He entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See on July 1, 1989. Having served in different Nunciatures, Italy Egypt, Argentina, Croatia and Spain, he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Honduras on January 12, 2009.”
Bianco replaces Archbishop August Blume who was transferred by Pope Francis as Apostolic Nuncio to Hungary. Bianco was, until his appointment, has been the Archbishop of Falerone.
