Nebbi- The Grade Two Magistrates Court in Nebbi has remanded two people to Koch government prison for murder.
The suspects are alleged to have killed 23-year-old Ronald Rwothomio, a boda boda cyclist attached to Kamwokya boda boda stage in Pakwach town council on March 31.
Those remanded are Justine Oworwoth, a resident of Pajobi village and Brian Alikira a resident of Puyoo village in Pakwach town council, Pakwach district.
“Court heard that the duo on the fateful day went to their home requesting the deceased to take them to Panyimur, who later connived and brutally cut him into pieces and robbed his motorcycle Bajaj registration number UEK 001J, contrary to section 188 of the penal code act.”
Court presided over by grade two Magistrate Mike Okonye remanded the duo to Koch prison in Nebbi Sub County for two weeks when their case will come up for mention again.
Recently, the boda boda cyclists have been a target of robbery. Seven years ago, a boda-boda cyclist was murdered in cold blood after he was hired from Paidha to DRCongo. The murder provocked an outrage with a demonstration held in Paidha and Nebbi by the cyclists.
Preliminary investigations by police indicate that the duo was headed for the Democratic Republic of Congo, after killing the deceased who first resisted the idea of the journey.
The suspects were remanded until April 17th when they will appear for mention of the case.
