- West Nile Province will meet Buganda in the finals in a date yet to be set
- West Nile team kept on changing the players who were engaged in various tournaments
- The FUFA Drum team was started to help the Football governing body identify talents from the various provinces who may in turn be incorporated into the National team
- The drum also acts as an opportunity for the various players to market their talents
They came into the maiden FUFA Drum tournament as favourites looking at the enormous talents that the players have in the country.
Though with that, starting was not easy after they had a first draw with Karamoja region that were the under dogs. But the technical team of West Nile Team quickly re-organised and improved on their performances in the subsequent games.
Today (Sunday), the West Nile team advances to the finals after beating Busoga Team 5-4 on penalties. The Spokesperson of the West Nile Fufa Drum Team, Mr Toko said: “The normal time of the 90 minutes ended into goalless but we advanced through the penalties. This is good and motivational for our team.”
The game for West Nile ended in the first semi final that was played at Green Light Stadium and they had to make a return leg to Busoga province. The game was played at Jinja. The West Nile region has for many decades provided enormous talented players who have passionately represented their clubs and country both at national and international level.
It is no wonder that the clubs playing in the Azam Premier league jets to West Nile to fish-out talented players from here to play in their clubs. The winners and Runners-up will walk away with prizes. Although all the participating teams will also have their prizes.
